UP the creek without a paddle This is an image of teaching.  We despair at our inability to get back down the creek because we can't afford a new paddle, the gest funding hasn't come though, we have overspent the capitation and we haven't time to fill in the forms for the government's new paddle initiative.
This is another image of teaching.  One of my ninth year classes, right down to the cloven hoof and the sign of an incipient beard.
Of course he is carrying a trident to remind us of where all the money for books and schools has gone!
Now I look at it, there is just a suggestion of the late Chris Woodhead about him ... perhaps that is where he went?  Enough teachers have been wishing him there after all.
